I was hooked from the first pages. I love the world she created, which gaves me classic sort of feeling. (IT takens place in Victoria London). I like the writing style, creative and entertaining. I think I had a good time reading it and be lost in this world.
However, I can't stand Tessa at all. She is naive and bookish when she first arrives. She often takes thing personally and acts childishly. Although I understand she rushes to save her brother, sometimes I find it hard to sympathize with her. Will, and James, I love both of them. They are attractive in their own ways. While Will is so closed and sarcastic, Jem is so sweet and caring. His fragile appearance makes everyone can't take their eyes off him.
Some of the twists that had happened, I was not expecting those, so it surprised me from time to time.
